The unique flow restriction of Precision™ combines with the constant safe pressure of the Freedom60® and FreedomEDGE® to respond in real time to a patient’s infusion site.
We currently have tubing sizes that can provide a variety of flow rates for IgG, antibiotics, and other biologics
The two main factors are the diameter of the tubing and the viscosity of the fluid. Immunoglobulin, for example, will flow much slower than an antibiotic. Since temperature also affects the viscosity of fluids, when the temperature is cold, the flow slows down and when the temperature is warm, the flow rate increases.
If the pump is turned off without engaging the slide clamp, drug may continue to flow until the pressure is fully released. To relieve this pressure, stop the Freedom60® by turning off the pump and immediately winding the knob clockwise. For the FreedomEDGE®, simply open the lid to stop the flow.
The Precision™ Flow Rate Tubing is designed to work together with the Freedom Infusion Pumps. The Precision™ Flow Rate Tubing controls the flow rate of the drug and enables the infusion to be completed according to the drug prescribing information. The pump will not function without the luer disc secured in place.
For accuracy and safety, most medications must be delivered at room temperature.
